Acquisition of Five Compressed Natural Gas Refuse Trucks

Maggio Sanitation, a family-owned refuse carting company, was facing a potential mandate for use of natural gas vehicles in upcoming contracts. With over sixty vehicles already using biodiesel, Maggio was well experienced in running a clean fleet. But with municipal CNG requirements looming for upcoming contracts, the family knew it needed an edge to compete. With the cost of a new refuse truck hovering at $128K, and the CNG option an extra $65K, the company was facing a steep set of costs to bring in the new trucks. Clean Fuels Consulting assisted the Maggios in identifying and applying for federal grant funds that assisted in meeting the incremental, additional cost of the CNG option.  Approximately $263,000 was gained to assist with the purchase of five new CNG refuse packers.
